Founder of Model Decisions
Having obtained a double first class honours degree in Marine Biology & Oceanography, I became a Chartered Accountant qualifying with what is now Ernst & Young in 1990. I have had a variety of roles in the industry and have been Finance Director of several companies ranging from a division of General Electric with a turnover of around £120 million all the way to a management consultancy I owned with two colleagues which had a turnover of under £1 million.
I've experienced business in good times and bad and have spent my career so far at the sharp end – where it can hurt – which has given me a real commercial edge.
I believe that an understanding of, comfort and confidence with the numbers generated by business is a vital part of an entrepreneur’s armoury, which allows one to make better decisions and enhance performance. I run workshops tailored to the business owner to demystify, enlighten and introduce delegates to the power of the numbers they already have in their organisation.
In my personal life I remain enthusiastic about the environment, I enjoy hiking, sailing, diving and skiing when time allows.
